Hazy Childhood memory triggers

When I was a kid and traveled to Colombia, there were always these fires set along the side of the road. Shantytowns would pop up, populate, get mowed over and buried, and pop up again. The only way they could deal with trash is by burning it. It was near the airport in Barranquilla where I would see all this. On final approach, the sky would always be blood red, especially near sunset. As much as it was a representation of the sad poverty rampant there, it was a signal I was "home".

Today's haze due to all the forest fires sorta reminds me of that.

Gods, I want to go back "home." I miss it there.

(This is probably one of the reason I'll never, ever consider BRC "home.")

The sun was an amazing pink color this morning. I wished I dared stop on the side of the freeway and take a picture.
